Everyone Else’s Favourite Books Of The Year Lists (2023 Edition)

I read a lot of blogs by a lot of people who read a lot of books. At this time of the year it is the custom to do a census of all the books they have they read and then share that list with everyone else. For the last few years (2022, 202120202018), I’ve been collecting all those lists in one place – here (actually two places – here’s a twitter thread of it).

I find these lists (sort of) helpful because it forms the often unrealistic basis of my next year of reading. And if it helps you to put that list into challenge form then Tim Challies offers his now annual reading challenge. If you go big on your reading goals then you might find these tips to reading a lot of books helpful. Although not everyone agrees. Or these tips.

As Tyler Cowen says“A good list has never been more valuable, and please note my recommendations are never done to fill a quota, “achieve balance,” right previous wrongs, or whatever. They are what I think are the best books.  Scary how rare that has become.”

So no matter which tier of books you read from you’ll find something here for you (probably) and none of them, as far as I know were reviewed like this. And maybe you’ll build a family library or go shopping in a bookshop like this.

Some Freebies

I’ve come across one or two people offering up some free resources, if I find more I’ll add them here. If you know of anything let me know
