I’m back in the UK visiting my father as I write this. He’s made significant strides since last I saw him. He’s conscious for starters. But there’s a long and frustrating road of recovery ahead of him. He’s got no voice, he can’t stand, he’s not yet able to eat solid food, he can’t take himself to the bathroom, and he’s still getting some oxygen help. How much of this he fully appreciates is questionable, he just knows he wants to go home but can’t. Those days are tough days to go through.
Last weekend I ran the Stockholm Marathon. It was as predicted too hot. Too hot for me anyway. 4 hours became nearly 5 as I struggled with the cramps the last 12km. In the end the heat got a bit much and I spent an hour in the medical tent, getting fluids, and helping me overcome some heat exhaustion. No more midday summer marathons for me.

This coming week sees a return to Stockholm, some more summer running & hoping to find some fresh rhythm of study now that I know my Dad is out of danger. I was I admittedly finding it hard to concentrate. So once again no posts this past week.

Hospitality can take a variety of forms but for me it comes in two regular sizes – food & lodging. Those are the most common needs and problems that arise all over the world. The need for money or work is also pretty common but those are solved by generosity not hospitality. So for me it means feeding people not just entertaining them. That means breakfast, lunches, dinners and not just one dinner booked some time in advance.
