Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.

That’s the verse that comes to mind when I think about Tim Keller, who died almost two weeks ago. I remember him for speaking God’s word to me (a couple of times I heard him in person & often via the wonders of the internet). And as you read the many, many, glowing tributes about him you see the outcome of his life. What’s left then? Well, to imitate his faith.

I think I own all of his books, or at the very least pretty close to it. He’s liberally quoted on this blog including a first hand interaction where Tim was very gracious to me. I found working through the Psalms in his devotional book one of the most enriching daily devotionals I’ve done in recent years. City to City has even reached Stockholm in a small way.

There are a few people, and I guess it can only ever be a few people, but when you carefully observe them and the outcome of their lives, you think yourself, I’d like half of that. I think for me, Tim Keller even from a distance was one such person.
