Landed in Niš, picked up the car (Jeep Avenger), had a haircut, hiked up Midzor (Serbia’s highest peak at 2169m), seen some stunning scenery and swum in the Danube (that’s Romania on the other side).

Early observations – Serbs still use cash a lot, smoke a lot, eat a lot, speak noticeably less English (except among under 30s).
