I’m in good health but I’m getting close to 50 which means, and let’s make a huge assumption here that I live until I’m 100, that fairly soon I’ll have less life ahead of me than I do behind me. The likelihood is that this is already true of course.
Then there are the obituaries and I’m finding myself noticing that the ages of people who have died are more often in their 60s or early 70s than in their late 80s or 90s and I think to myself, ‘that’s not all that far away!’ Those thoughts are both disturbing & motivating in equal measures. All that to say is that death is coming & there is (and this is equally true for all the wannabe cyborg billionaires) nothing you can do to stop it.
There are, however, lots of things I can do to prepare for it. And just as importantly there are lots of things that can make it easier for those I leave to pick up the baton, to deal with what needs to be done in a way that seeks to minimize the hassle. So I’d like to point you towards a helpful set of articles by Nigel Ring.
BE PREPARED FOR DEATH. PART 1 – WHERE WILL I GO?
BE PREPARED FOR DEATH. PART 2 – PRACTICAL MATTERS
BE PREPARED FOR DEATH. PART 3 – WHAT IS WHERE
BE PREPARED FOR DEATH. PART 4 – LOOSE ENDS
As you might expect from Nigel it is thorough, eminently practical, matter of fact & yet there is a clear sense of peace & faith about the whole thing. As it should be!
