Jeremy at Make Wealth History has a great post about ten myths about simple living which you should read. His ten myths are:

  1. Simple living is about retreat, and withdrawing from the world
  2. Simple living is about self denial
  3. Simple living is about rural pastoralism
  4. Simple living sentimentalises poverty
  5. Simple living is opposed to progress and technology
  6. Simple living is hypocritical
  7. Simple living is anti-capitalist and anti-wealth
  8. Simple living is only for westerners
  9. Simple living is a passing fad
  10. Simple living is environmentally futile
Stand out line: “I want to live more simply, but I aspire to have enough, not to have nothing.”
