Losing the art of living together

I was reading Grand Designs in bed this morning (it was their ‘save the planet in style’ issue) and came across a piece about eco-development BedZED in London. Right at the end of the article, Pooran Desai one of the developers who lives there said,

Probably the best thing about BedZED is that it has created a real sense of community, something that many of us feel is missing in modern day life and has contributed to a decrease in well-being and happiness.

We have lost the ability to connect and to live in community. How is your community? Do you know your neighbours? Our changing use of property disconnects us from people and community moves away from the home. My community is my church. Where is yours?
