Born Believers: Do we create God?


Keeping with the evolution theme that has emerged on this blog over the past month or so, Christine Sine came across an old New Scientist magazine that suggested we evolved religious beliefs because holding those beliefs better helped us survive when we needed to kill our food. She asks some good questions

Why I wonder do we believe in a god of love, compassion and peace when there is so much hate and violence in our world?  Is it because we long for something different or is it because the intrinsic nature of humanity is the nature of God – even though we have rebelled, polluted and ignored it?
