Talking about injustice

Talking about injustice used to fairly straight forward because in British evangelical circles it usually meant just talking about caring for the poor and ‘remembering the poor’ was something most people wanted to do. It didn’t feel particularly political and the application was usually quite straight-forward (give some money to a charity) and everyone left feeling quite good about themselves.

Now the landscape is much more complicated. Justice for things evangelicals support (like poverty) are often tethered to issues that is hard to support (like the T in LGBT issues). Everything has become political, the vitriol has intensified and the dangers of causing offence has amplified. So it was with a great deal of trepidation that I spoke to our church about injustice. Constructive feedback welcomed.
